Too Soon

My mom has days maybe hours left on this earth.
It is heart breaking.

I look at this photo and my heart breaks for Evie.
Oh Evie,  you have had so little time with your grandma.
I promise you will know her and know what an amazing grandma you have.
I know that your memories will be faint if you have any at all.
So we will tell you all about grandma, you will see photos,
you will here her silly joke about cannibal clowns and how she always told it wrong.

Your grandma is leaving this earthly body but she is not leaving us.
We are sealed as a family and she will be there when we need her.
I will make sure you know her, so that when she is close you will know that your grandma is near by.
That she is helping you through hard times and rejoicing with you during the good times.
We are lucky to have her.  We are lucky to be loved by her.

Thompson Home

Lately I have been thinking about our home.
What do I want it to look like, feel like.
How do I want it to show and represent who the Thompson's are.
I have been praying and thinking about should
we stay in our present home or find a new place to hang our hats.
I know the Lord will lead us and I pray we will be open to what he says.

Something I would love if we are directed to move, is a view of the Temple.
One that is seen ever day.
I would love to look out the windows of my home and see the House of the Lord.
The Temple stands as a testament.
It has power to lift and to guide.
Just seeing it can bring peace to my trouble heart.
It reminds me of my purpose on this earth, that my family is eternal.
The Temple strengthens me, my marriage and my family.
I love the Temple.

One day I would love to give the gift of a daily view of the Temple to my children,
but for now I'll settle for pictures of the Temple in my home and a view from Costco.

I am lucky that we love where we are in our happy little home.
We have been so blessed to live so close to my parents and right now with all
that is going on with my mom, I would be happy to stay put for a bit longer.

true love

I snicked this picture of my dad and mom.
It was 5:15 in the morning, my dad just helped her use the bathroom and is now giving her pain meds.
When he leaves,  I am there to help her when needed.
To make sure she doesn't fall and hurt her broken arm or break anything else.
She's a sneaky one and has fallen on my watch, luckily she didn't do any harm.

I count myself lucky to see first hand how they love each other.
My dad who is obviously tired never lets it show.
He love and cares without thought of himself.
I watch as it kills him to leave for work each morning.
I watch him and know what love looks like.
If I ever had a doubt about their relationship (which I haven't)
there would be no room left for any of it.

I watch my mom struggle with the lost of freedom.
I watch how at times her mind slips.
I sit next to her at church and know that she hurts, but her testimony is strong
even if her body is weak.
I watch her eye's light up when she see my dad.
They belong to each other, they are side by side in their faith and love.

If I take one thing from my mom's stomach cancer, from our families stomach cancer,
it will be their love and the service I see day in and day out from my dad.

I am lucky to have such parents.

Living

For those friends and family who would like to follow my mom's battle with stomach cancer,
we have started a blog.  I will write about it there and most likely here as well.

Luckily a lot will come from my mom with special insight into her personal fight, but when your mom has cancer your entire family has cancer, so you will also here from all of us.

Here's a link to the blog
