Thompson Home

Lately I have been thinking about our home.

What do I want it to look like, feel like.

How do I want it to show and represent who the Thompson's are.

I have been praying and thinking about should

we stay in our present home or find a new place to hang our hats.

I know the Lord will lead us and I pray we will be open to what he says.

Something I would love if we are directed to move, is a view of the Temple.

One that is seen ever day.  

I would love to look out the windows of my home and see the House of the Lord.

The Temple stands as a testament.

It has power to lift and to guide.

Just seeing it can bring peace to my trouble heart.

It reminds me of my purpose on this earth, that my family is eternal.

The Temple strengthens me, my marriage and my family.

I love the Temple.

One day I would love to give the gift of a daily view of the Temple to my children,

but for now I'll settle for pictures of the Temple in my home and a view from Costco.

I am lucky that we love where we are in our happy little home.

We have been so blessed to live so close to my parents and right now with all

that is going on with my mom, I would be happy to stay put for a bit longer.

hairspray now for more then hair

 Yesterday Evie and Milo where in my office at work for 2 min and managed to 

wright with pen all over the dry erase board.

Seriously Crappy of them.

At first I was afraid I would have to pay like $10 to buy a new one.

Demon children are always skimming my wallet.

But then I remembered this magic cleaning trick!!!!

All you need is hairspray!

Just spray it on, wipe off and presto it's all clean.

My $10 just gave me a high five.

Now I can spend it on something important like 10 Dr Peppers from McDonald's.

Book's Check Em Out

I love recipe books!!!!  Come on who doesn't?

When I saw The Romney Family Table, I knew I wanted it,

and let Justin know that I wanted it and left hints it would make a great Christmas present.

Somehow my hints feel short and this was not waiting for me under the tree.

I did get the new gym shoes, that I picked out and bought and put under the tree.

Anyway, I saw that it was on sale for half off at Desert Book!!!!

So I ran over and picked up my very own copy.

I can't wait to try out so many of the recipes and I love all the pictures of the Romney family.

  I'm sure that they will be feature on Menu Thursday.

This week I needed this reminder.  With all the amazing things and inspiration out there via the internet, sometimes I forget that we all have slumps and hard days.

I love the saying "don't judge somebody's outward self with your inward self"  or something like that.

Hooray

Tonight while I was reading my little one's their bedtime story from a library book which is over due,

I had the thought Hooray for Fish more like Hooray for Bedtime.

I was sleepy and just exhausted and I couldn't wait to get my kids to bed so I could just rest.

Then at the end of the book the baby fish finds his mommy fish and they kiss and tell each other they love them.  All at once I was like "Hooray for Fish" is awesome and Hooray for Life even more awesome.  I could have gone from sleepy to delirious, either way it made me think of all that I have to say Hooray for.

Dang

The other day in the parking lot of Target I unfortunately backed up into a car.

I was in the Mahonda (what the kids call our mini van), the car was small,  the sun was in my eyes and why didn't someone honk? Mostly I was distracted.  

I was thinking of everything I had to do and not about what I was doing. 

I am so very thankful for a wake up call, thank you universe for honking.

I want to live in the now and be fully engaged in whatever I am up to.

If I'm with my kids, that is where I am.

On a date with my main man,  he is my main focus.

If I am at the gym, I'm not thinking about the dishes at home, I'm there trying not to fall on my face as I do one more burpee.  

(Dear Burpee, I kinda hate you.)

In all that I have to do, I never want that to get in the way of who and what I love.

The people who fill up our live's are of way more worth then the things that fill up our to do list.

Why are all my Oprah ah ha moments at Target?

Life lesson on aisle 5, right between the Nate Berkus lamp and the Halloween Decor.

P.S. Just in case your wondering, my mini van has buns of steal and only inflicted damage.  Good thing because we just bought it.

Uncontrollable

With the start of school, comes school lunch.

I mostly have my kids take a lunch. 

It's healthier and cost less, but is not without it's own down side.

My problems our as follows.
I have to make them lunch.

I have a small kitchen and treats are stored on top of my fridge. Ugly.

The second I bring home snacks my five vultures eat all of them up.

I have to make them lunch.

I have solved 2 of those pesky problems.

I bought 2 metal bins from Walmart.

They fit perfectly on top of the fridge.  Ugly no more.

I spay painted a T and a S, then glued them onto the metal bin.

T stands for, if your a hungry little vulture you can take freely from me.

S stands for school lunch only.  

Don't even think of eating anything from here unless your butt is sitting in a school cafeteria.

Nice and organized after.

I also packed a treat bin for the car.

This has come in so handy.

In fact it saved me today.

I had just done a super amazingly hard work out and didn't have time to go home

for my recovery snack before story time started at the library.

Never been so happy to have trail mix in my life.

I am pretty sure without it I would have died.

I'm not saying a treat bin in your car will save your life, but are you willing to take that chance?

I'm not and am alive today because of it.
