More Awesome

Lately I have been think a lot about self improvement.

I feel like while yes I am awesome, I have stayed at this level of awesome for far to long.

I want to teach my chicklets that life is about continual learning.

That tomorrow is a new day and a new chance to live a better life. 

All of the sudden I have older kids, even teenagers and I'm all like crap, you need to know so much so soon.

Like how to cook and laundry and finances, running a house hold.

I suck at all these things, so I am on a quest to improve myself so that I can have

children who move away and don't move back into my basement because I didn't teach them real life skillz.

Lets face it Dallin is 15 and in 3 short years he will be off, who knows where serving a mission and Mike will be right after him, were not ready!!!  Lauren is 11 so as I'm learning and helping her older brothers, she'll be right there learning as well.  Who am I kidding, she is already a better homemaker then me, she came out responsible, loving and organized.  Maybe she can teach us a thing or 2.

Mostly I worry about their relationship with our Savior and their Heavenly Father.

Do they know how important they are in our life's?

My hope is that as I learn and grow, I will have insight into how to teach them and help them become the people the Lord expects them to be.  That as they watch Justin and I work on our marriage, they will see what a loving couple should look like.  A marriage with the Lord at the center.

Here's to growth and not being afraid of looking into your own nitty gritty.

Here's to five wonderful and amazing chicklets, that I am blessed to help raise and the always devilishly handsome man who is my partner in all this craziness.

A Body

For the 3rd time I had to sit my children down and tell them that we had lost another baby.

I prayed for inspiration and help.

I came across this video on the Mormon Channel.

 

 

We watched the video and then talked about how amazing our body's are and how

they are prefect for getting us threw this life, for this mortal period.

Then we talked about how sometimes someone is so pure, they only need a body for a short time.

For the 3rd time we talked about this, for the 3rd time I had to tell them we lost a baby. This is one area that doesn't get easier with practice.  So hard.  I am so grateful to have a knowledge of the gospel, to feel the spirit in my home.  To know that I have a Father in Heaven and that my Savior truly did atone for man kind.   I am grateful that I felt this little man so strongly before he was taken from this earth. You will be missed little one.

 

Justin told my kids this quote by Joseph Smith.

 

"The Lord takes many away even in infancy, that they may escape the envy of man and the sorrows and evils of this present world, they were too pure, too lovely, to live on this earth; therefore, if rightly considered instead of morning we have reason to rejoice as they are delivered from evil, and we shall have them again… the only difference between the old and the young dying is one lives longer in heaven and eternal light and glory than the other and is freed a little sooner form this miserable wicked world”

 

I will see you again and hold you someday.

Hooray

Tonight while I was reading my little one's their bedtime story from a library book which is over due,

I had the thought Hooray for Fish more like Hooray for Bedtime.

I was sleepy and just exhausted and I couldn't wait to get my kids to bed so I could just rest.

Then at the end of the book the baby fish finds his mommy fish and they kiss and tell each other they love them.  All at once I was like "Hooray for Fish" is awesome and Hooray for Life even more awesome.  I could have gone from sleepy to delirious, either way it made me think of all that I have to say Hooray for.

Catching Fire

A few years back an amazing ward member, who has the nick name of Grandpa Candy

due to the fact that after each Sunday Service the children line up and he lets them pick a candy from his bag.  His wonderful wife once told me that he only brings that bag to hold candy.

No other use for it.  Anyway this great guy asked me if I would be willing to be on

the Friends of the Davis County Children Justice Board, and how do you say no to Grandpa Candy?

Just some sad facts,  Sorry but they are sad.

1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday

In Utah there is a confirmed case of abuse (sexual and physical) every 38 minutes

1 in 5 children will be solicited for sex while on the internet.

I know that child abuse is a hard subject but lets talk and find ways to protect

these little victims.

Schultuete

My brother and his family just moved to Germany.

When I say just I mean like 3 weeks ago.

Right after they left I found out about the Schultuete (school cones).

Thank you pinterest.

They're a German back to school tradition that started in the 1800's.

Its basically a cone filled with school items.  Germany's make huge ones with

first day of school outfits, pens, markers, anything you could need for school really.

I new right away that I wanted to make some for my brothers kids heading off to a new school 

in a new country.  He only has 2 in school full time right now but I decided not to leave out the

little ones and made one for each.

Since I didn't have a lot of time on my hands and I wanted the schultues 

to reach them before they started school.  I used mostly what I had on hand.

I ran to Targets dollar spot it get the school supplies.

I also sent some Chic Fa La sauce for my brother and his wife.

Who doesn't love this sauce?

Best watch it, before you get Schooled

Monday my 3 oldest chicklets went back to school.

I already miss Summer.  Call me crazy but I do.

My kids are ready,  so off they go.

Dallin is now in 9th grade.  Holy crap.  

Now everything matters, grades! Holy crap.

It's time to prepare to get into a great college. Holy crap.

Breath!

Back to Dallin.  This kid is awesome.  

He is a tuba playing maniac.

He is one of the few 9th graders playing with the Davis High Marching Band

and is doing their field show.

Davis High is very proud of their Band and Football and being Davis High.

Mike is in 8th grade and is also awesome.

He is playing the baritone which my little ones call the baby tuba.

He loves to skateboard and pester.

He is great at pestering, its a true talent.

Dallin and Mike pose stoically.  Why yes that is doughnut on Mike's mouth.

Lauren is a big 5th grader now.  Crazy.

She also is awesome.

Lauren has the kindest heart.  She is super good.

She has a talent of making everyone around her feel loved, young and old.

She also is a great decorator, she rearranges her room like daily.  No joke.

I got the kids doughnuts for the first day of school breakfast (Mike's mouth is prof), because

I may have slept in and didn't have time to make french toast.

The boys left for KJH.

(I wish it was socially ok for me to walk them the first day, but such things are frowned upon) 

Curled Lauren's hair and luckily 5th graders are fine having their mother walk them to school.

It was a great day and so happy my kids loved it.

Even if someone with doughnut on his mouth said it was okay.

I know he meant amazing.

Somethings really are just yours.

So theirs no denying I have a big family.

Which I love but comes with its challenges.

Like when your in the living room and here one of your kids

say to the other "Why are you using my toothbrush?"

and then the other sicko say "what this is my toothbrush".

So naturally I promptly threw out all the old toothbrushes and bought new.

I also never ever want to ever overhear that conversation again, I got my trusty sharpie out.

I put each kid's initial on the bottom of the toothbrush.

To be extra sure I put their name on the side.

Large family problem solved!!!

All of Justin's High Schools Dreams Have Come True

So first off me and Justin ran off to Sugar City Idaho and left our

kids minus Milo with Grandma Thompson. I know what your

thinking what in the world brought you guys all the way up to

Sugar City. Well you'll have to wait just a moment to find out,

because I came home to a sick little Lu Lu. Poor Lauren was so

sick and I swear we left her healthy. All she did was lay around

while the other kids went to Artic Cricle for ice cream cones. She

is still sick and missed church today. She wants to be better so

bad because school is tomorrow. I know strange child, her

brothers and every other child would be milking this to no end, but not Lauren. I almost think

she wishes she could live with the beautiful worlds best teacher Mrs Burton. My Poor Sickly Lauren. In are house being sick doesn't even save you from mom's camera.


So now on to Sugar City and all of Justin's dreams. My husband has been trying for awhile to talk me into getting dirt bikes and needless to say he finally won the debate with you know you'll get new boots right. My girlish eyes saw black leather knee highs and I was sold and then I realized that there not new designer boots but motocross boots. Oh well a new boot is still a new boot. This picture is of me and Milo waiting for Justin to tie up his bike. By the way Milo was perfect even when we were stranded for 2 hrs when we ran out of gas. A big thanks to AAA for their rescue. What a fun adventure.....

Milo is 2 Mths, My Little Rag a Muffin, and Blue and Gold

Say what. That's right little man Milo is now 2 Mths. Well Actually he was 2mths last week, but now I have pictures to prove it. I'll be posting more on my other blog shortly, I wanted to get these ones up quick for my mom to see just how big her newest grandchild is. So mom here he is, and I must also add he is so dang cute. As always he looks a little scared and nervous in these photos, but that's just Mi. The only time he doesn't have this look on his wee lil face is when he is smiling and talking to whoever is around. He is such a blast. He is so mellow and kinda just goes with the flow. I had a dentist apt yesterday and I thought no need to find someone to watch Lo Lo for me, He'll Just Sleep. Well naturally I was wrong and he decided to be up the entire time and I must add he was so awesome he just hung out on my lap and cued and smiled at the staff. oh and by the way just in case you care no new cavities, that's right I only had the four from 2007 that I some how blacked out of my memory, but at least no new ones. I was so worried that me being prego would of ruined my mouth because lets just say me and floss didn't have a friendly relationship for the first 9 mths or so. No matter we are friends once again and I am no worse for the wear.

So Lauren decided sense it was a whopping 50 deg outside she should naturally forgo a long sleeve shirt or a light jacket to the more warm and ever so modest tank top. She looked like such a little orphan child that I had to grab my camera and take a few snap shots of my little lady. I love her hair going in all directions. I know some people out there might think get a jacket on that child or comb her hair, but I just loved the spring like feel of the day and this is my life and my girl who thought she was just beautiful and she is, just ask her.

The boys had their blue and gold banquet (thank you Jen for telling me how to spell banquet).

It was fun. No really it was. I am now the prod mom of a Webelo (Jen wasn't sure I spelt this right and neither am I) and a wolf. Dallin is on track to achieving his arrow of light or something like that and Mike got a ton of silver arrow point and 2 gold arrow points. I really don't know what scouts is all about, I just send my boys out to the big world of scouts and pretend like I know what is going on and go home and ask Justin what in the world just happen. Did I mention I married an awesome man who knows a lot of boy stuff that I don't.
