Free for you, PRICELESS for them!

This Christmas, here's two relatively simple, FREE gifts you can give your fellow man:

1. Get registered in the bone marrow donor registry: http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/. There are many people who need a life-saving bone marrow transplant, but who don't have a match. Last month we heard about this sad story - an 11 year old girl with AML (leukemia), who passed away. She needed a bone marrow transplant and a perfect match couldn't be found. YOU could be someones match. It takes about five minutes to get signed up. Get registered and give someone hope! Our friend Rachel was able to find a donor, can you imagine if she was saved because of YOUR marrow? What an amazing gift for everyone involved!

2. Donate blood at your local Red Cross you can also go HERE if you're not sure where that is. You can donate blood or platelets at American Red Cross. A single platelet donation can provide enough platelets for a full therapeutic dose for a patient in need. In fact, some platelet donations yield enough platelets for two or three therapeutic doses. By contrast, it takes about five whole blood donations to produce a single therapeutic dose. Many patients who need platelets are undergoing chemotherapy or organ transplant and have weakened immune systems. A platelet dose from a single donor reduces the patient’s exposure to multiple donors and is therefore preferred by many physicians. During a platelet donation, a small portion of your blood (less than one pint at a time), is drawn from your arm and passed through a sophisticated cell-separating machine. The machine collects the platelets and safely returns the remaining blood components, along with some saline, back to you. After the donation you can resume your normal activities, avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise that day.
According to the American Red Cross: every two seconds, someone in the US needs blood. Before Amelia was diagnosed, I never could believe that number. I had no idea. But after going on this cancer journey with Amelia and sitting in clinic watching blood transfusion after blood transfusion going on around us, that number is much more real to me now. Amelia had 3 just in her 1st 2 days of treatment. We have a friend Elena who has had multiple transfusions in just one week - and occasionally, her transfusion has been delayed because the blood bank didn't have the type of blood she needed. Or there's our cancer friend, Skyler, who has multiple platelet transfusions every day. And there's millions of other cases where people need blood. It is life-saving. And it can be really scary watching your sick child and being told that there isn't the blood they need available.

Some Facts About Blood Supply Needs and Blood Donation -from the American Red Cross

•One donation can save the lives of up to three people.

•The demand for blood transfusions is growing faster than donations.

•Shortages of all blood types usually occur during the summer and winter holidays.

•Less than 38% of the US population is eligible to donate blood. (So if you can, you can see that you're sorely needed!)

•It is possible to donate specifically only platelets or plasma. This process is called apherisis.

•Donated platelets must be used within 5 days of collection - new donations are constantly needed.

•Healthy bone marrow makes a constant supply of red cells, plasma, and platelets. The body will replenish the elements given during a blood donation - some in a matter of hours, and others in a matter of weeks.

•The average adult has about 10 to 12 pints of blood in his body. Roughly 1 pint is given during a donation.

•The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 pints.

•A healthy donor may donate red blood cells every 56 days.

•A healthy donor may donate platelets as few as 3 days apart, but a maximum of 24 times a year.

You must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good general health to donate. (Eligibility requirements may vary in some states and donation centers.)

Please, if you possibly can, get out and donate this holiday season. It's one of the best gifts you can give.

This Christmas, GIVE LIFE!

Cancer Sucks Yard Sale Report

The yard sale was amazing.  You could just feel the love.  So many people
were so giving and I'll admit that some were major tight wades and I
kinda wanted to kick them in the shins.  For the most part I was able to
learn so much and see so much kindness from people for people they didn't even know.
My friends and neighbors also majorly helped out with their time and donations.
So thank you to them all you are wonderful people and I am so lucky to know you!

I am grateful to have been a part of this and I thank the Lord for his love and guidance
because without him none of this could have been possible so a Major thank you to our
Savior and to our Heavenly Father.  I love this Gospel that teaches that we are more then
what we seem to be and in his hands we can be great, and I know you are all great.

Now because I am very immature for my old wise age (Jackie) and this post has gone very
serious and it makes me feel a little squeamish, I need to break up all that sappiness
and sorry Lisa you are my victim

This outfit somehow did not sale so If you run down to the local DI
you just might find this truly amazingly rad outfit.  You had better hurry!!!!!

Motherhood: An Eternal Partnership with God

My friend Michelle had this on her blog and I think that we could all use a reminder that being Mom is more then just being Mom.  Thanks Michelle, this was just what I needed to her.

Lauren was telling my mom all about the talk she has in Primary on Sunday.
My mom asked her what her talk was on and cute Lauren replied
"testimonies, but I'm going to do what my family always does and write it Sunday morning before church"
I think that this might be one of those moments that tell me I just might want to be a little bit more organize

Thankful

My mom has had a bunch of health issues as of late.
First off we thought she had a heart attack,
but when the Dr went in for a closer look all was fine.
They decided that it must be her thyroid causing all the trouble,
she went to a couple more Dr who said that it was her thyroid,
and then they brought up the "C" word.
After a lot of prayers and worries
she went in to have a biopsy of her thyroid.
The results came back that
NO CANCER WAS FOUND!
They removed her thyroid and now hopefully
all will get back to normal for my parents.
I am so thankful for my mother and also for my Savior who has protected
her and blessed her that at least for right now cancer
is not something that we need worry about.
Love you Mom

Alicia

This is my beautiful niece Alica.
(while you read this post I recommend singing Sunrise Sunset)
Alicia is who made me Aunt Kem at the ripe old age of 11.
She just turned 18 and is about to graduate.
Which means it is high time for me to
embarrass her for the wide world to see.
Love ya Shesha.

In our home she is know as Shesha

(thanks to Dallin and Mike not being able to say Alicia)

I used to cart her along with me when I was in High School, and make her sing Fat guy in a little coat. For those who have no idea what I am talking about watch Tommy Boy.

We still quote movies, mostly anything that has come out of Jack Black's mouth.

I sing songs about boys she likes, because I think its funny to watch her blush. Mainly to "Oh Ricky your so fine you blow my mind."

I could go on and on but to finish up I'm just going to say, that Alicia you are an amazing person and we all love you and hope the best for you at this exciting blow your mind time. Always follow where the Lord leads you, trust in him and you will always be able to deal with life. Know that he loves you and also wants the best for you. Recently I heard that the Savior takes you as you are but will never leave you as you are.

Enjoy this time and I can't wait to see who you become as you grow and become a woman, wife and someday a mother. If I have any advise besides trust in the Lord it would be trust in your Mom. She loves you and knows a lot about life and what you are going through. she also is amazing and is totally rad just like you.

love ya Shesha

Dumb Old Tree Branch!!!!

Last night around 1 am (I know it was around 1 because I was up feeding Evie)
Our light flickered and went out. I thought oh no my Mom's
dumb old tree has finally knocked out our power line! (this stupid tree drops branches every couple of years but has yet to hit our line.)
I looked and a branch was down in our neighbor's back yard,
and a big one was resting against my roof. (which I thought would come down during the night, but didn't) Our power line was up and happily covered in snow.
Everyone's light were out and I happily laid Evie down and went to sleep.
Everyone's lights came back on around 3 am. Well everyone but ours.
Sometime during the night my Mom's dumb old tree dropped one more branch,
and that dumb old branch decided to line it self up with my power line,
and it took it out without a thought of the poor people who now have no power
and are refuges at their Mom's/grandma's home until all is fixed.

Tree branch resting against my house

Big Old Dumb Tree

View from my Mom's. Notice that are power pipe thing is bent
and that we have to fixed power pipe thing before the
power guys can fix our power line.

Happy Birthday Little One

Dear Little One,
Today is the day that the world gets to meet your sweetness.
I can hardly wait to see you.
I wonder if you will have hair like your sister's that
sticks straight up. or big brown/green eyes like your big brother Dallin.
Will you be born with red hair like Mike that will go toe head and
then to a dirty blond. or maybe you will have Milo's huge blue eye's?
Whatever traits you have or don't have,
aren't important, just know that you are
loved and welcome to our home #5.
Oh and little one you will soon have a name,
and whatever that name maybe it will
fit you and be yours.
How about Chuck since you will share your day with
none other then Chuck Norris, and you know that he is
your 3rd cousin and that great grandpapa Thompson
changed his diapers and baby sat him.
Although I really don't believe Papa ever changed a
diaper ever, that is what he tells us.
So welcome sweet little Chuck.
Ok we'll keep the name search going,
but all the same see you tonight
sweet little one.
Love your mama.
P.S. Please be kind and fast but not so fast that I don't get drugs. Just fast enough.

38 WKS

Today I am 38 wks!!!!!
and Yes that darn baby is still
holding up in my uterus.
So as much as I wish I was posting this photo
of my newborn little girl, sadly it is a newborn
photo of Mr Milo. Man he sure was a cute little
baby. This picture makes me want to get this little
baby girl out of me and enjoy her sweetness.
That and the fact that my body hurts and I can't sleep,
but mostly to enjoy all that newborn goodness.

Girls Day Out

Way back in January, me and my favorite 7 yr old
were lucky enough to have a day just for us...
Justin's mom really wanted to take all the girls out to see The
Frog Princess. Naturally I jump at the chance to hang out with
the coolest, most rocking little girl that I know, even if at
the moment she happened to be missing
a couple of teeth.
So cute.
First off whats a movie with out treats???
So after a quick picture of us leaving we headed off to
Target for some goodies (I'm way to cheap to pay for movie
treats at the movies).
Lauren found some good luck outside of Target.

We joined the rest of the Thompson girls at the theater.
Well the rest minus Christine, Elisha, Kira and Robyn.
In this picture starting at the back is Justin's mom Sharon,
his sister Mindi, Mindi's daughter Sam,
sister Amy (happy birthday today Amy)
Mindi's Daughter Shelby and the most rocking Lauren.
We both loved the movie and time spent with family.

After the show we headed off to Fazoli's for
some yummy and cheap Italian food.
(Lauren's favorite)

All in all a great day spent with my girl.

The next weekend Justin took the boy's out to Smith and Edwards gun show with my dad
for a little male bonding. No pictures of them because I'm the camera happy one,
but they all came home happy and telling me about the guns they saw.
To which I just smiled and was happy that I they have a husband and a dad
that will take them to do all the boy stuff so I don't have to.

Mi!o's First Hair Cut

How do you instantly transform your 13 mth old into a toddler????
Cut off all of their lovely baby locks!!!!
Milo wasn't having this hole sitting still thing.
So I sat in the chair with him on my lap while my hair
lady Tracy went to business.
Just a simple back shot to show how long his hair was.

Milo not so sure about me setting him down after the cut.

He was so good mostly and thankfully because Tracy's next
appointment turned up early and kept Mr Milo's attention
on her and not on the fact that he was being sheered.
I love his new little look and he did magically before my
eyes become a little man. That part I always find sad.
I will miss you Milo's long blond locks, just like I'll miss your
baby hood. Ok I know way sappy but I am allowed to because this is
my little man who is still a baby but is about to become the big brother
to his little sister.

Almost 35 Wks

On Wednesday I am a whopping 35 wks.
So if you have ever been 35 wks pregnant then you
know and understand that right now I have a massive mixture of
of rational and irrational feelings.
They span from labor fears to will the boys new bedroom
ever be done????? I am a roller coaster of everything.
One minute I am so sick and tired of this alien in my body that
I want her out and I mean NOW, and the next that thought brings
nothing but panic. HELP.... Just so you all know
I am 35 wks with still no name for this child!!!!
Thank you for listening to my ramblings and here's to 5 more wks
but lets all hope that it is more like 3 or 4 more wks!!!!
Ah so much to do.....So little time.
Pray for my nesting energy to come soon and to stay strong!!!

I Heart Valentine's

This last Sunday my kids masterfully made these
Martha Stewart inspired wax hearts

This photo is from Martha Stewart,
and below is our version.
I must say that ours rock and are super fly.
Milo loves them and points them out to me about
ten times a day.

Here are some photo's of my kids that we took
with my point and shot camera that I got for Christmas.
As a side note I love the freedom that my little point and shot gives me.
Don't get me wrong I love my other camera but sometimes
I just wont bring it because it is to big and bulky or I am
worried that something will happen to it.
So thank you Justin for my point and shot.

Dallin

Mike who isn't afraid to make pink hearts.

Lauren

I must have been feeling the 80's tonight with this card.
I am making some valentine's to mall off
to Great Grandparents.
This is the first one and I'm not sure it will make
the final cut. Still enjoy the look and fill of the past.
I updated my photo blog with some pixs of Milo, check it out and let me know what you think!

Megan's all modern Giveaway

My friend Megan is doing a giveaway for All Modern.
You can chose between 2 $50 pillows. If I win
I chose this blast of red goodness.

(All Modern Zinnia Pillow)

My living room also feels that this
pillow should come and be apart of our home,
and I must say that I agree and hope that I win,
but if I don't I hope that you do.

I tumble for you!

First off I started a tumblr.
Second every time I think of my tumblr I also think
of Adam Sandler in Bill Madison
On the stairs dancing to the I tumble for
you song (I don't know the real name)
And so I sing it mostly in my head every time I head over to tumblr.
Here is why I decided to start a tumblr.
  • I can store all the random things I love. Like the photo above.
  • It is a nice way to stay organize
  • My friends Megan and Jackie both have one so I get to see all their great finds as well.

So far it is fast and fun and full of great ideas.

If you happen to also have a tumblr, I want to know and see so leave a comment.

Science Fair

This last week Dallin had his Science Fair.
Which he put off until 2 days before.
I know real nice. Lucky for his little life he came to me with an idea.
Which type of Popcorn has the
least old maids?????
Popcorn of course Dallin would chose
something that had to do with his favorite of
all food, popcorn.

I quickly made these to pixs for his poster.
Thank you photoshop.
He ate a million and a half bowls of popcorn
because you can't let something that tasty go to waste.
That would be unthinkable in the land of Dallin.
So after a couple stressful nights we were done and
the science fair kindly behind us for another year.
Just in case you care homemade popcorn averaged around only
7 old maids and the worst was western family which had around 20.

Sneak Peak

Here is just a sneak peak into the craziness that
happens to be my life at the moment.
Enter at your own risk!!!!

Sneak peak at Milo and his little sister's bedding.
With the help from Megan, we appliqued these cute owls on
some dang cute fabric. They are now visiting Grandma Thompson
who is kindly quilting and binding them for me.

I am now entering my 33 week of hell. I mean
gestation. My mind hurts when I think that a little blessing
from above will be joining us in 7 short weeks.
I have to be honest that it has taken me a long time to
warm up to this little baby girl and I am
not prepared at all. I have bought very little and what I did buy
took a lot of effort to convince myself that I am indeed pregnant and
I can't bring this child home naked. Now how ever I find myself getting excited
and I feel grateful to Heavenly Father for entrusting me with another
loving little spirit. Now if I only new who she was and what
I should call her????????? I have never gone this long without
a name, and if your around me at all you know how much this really and I
mean really bugs me. So if you leave a comment leave a name as well.

Last but not least, Milo and his hair.
My family (mom) thinks he needs a hair cut
that he looks like a little girl and that it is
high time that he looks like a little boy. I
hate the idea of cutting his locks but now
6 people have told me I have the cutest little girl and
how pretty she is and what a good little walker she is.
To which I say.
Um he is caring a ball, growling at a dinosaur and dressed like a boy!!!!
HE IS A BOY LADY!

Stay tuned for Milo's first haircut and me crying like a baby at
his first haircut.

Roy Shop Find

First off I feel kinda bad because I hate going to Roy.
I don't know if its because the traffic makes me want to scream,
or the fact that my Dad was an Air Force man and
when I was in 3rd grade he got transferred from
Washington to Utah and we spent what felt like
an eternity in a little hotel in Roy.
It was dark and little and we couldn't play outside
because it wasn't safe. The run down hotel is still there
next to Burger Bar. Ah Burger Bar one of the things
that entice me to visit Roy the other is Lucky China.
I know but I really like food.
Anyways back to my Roy find and another reason
to visit Roy. I saw this store with all this cute furniture
the last time me and Justin ate at Lucky China.
I still wasn't very excited to go and explore because of the
above reason. Anyway last Friday I was in Riverdale
after Milo's Dr apt and decided to go and venture to Roy.
After screaming at the traffic I found my
Diamond in the ruff!!!!
Recreation

I love this and if I had a bigger bedroom it would
now live with me.

The lady (who was totally nice and let me take pixs to blog with)
has refurbish all kinds of furniture.
Love this hutch.

For some reason I am truly loving birds right now,
that and pops of red.

This cute doggy that was hanging out in the store was
Milo's favorite part.
So I now must say sorry to Roy for old hurt feelings.
I now have a desire to see what else you hold.
I am sure that you will see me exploring more and more.
To visit Recreations, simply take the Roy exit
head towards main street and turn right at said light
the store is right after Walgreens.
Also if you have boys the Air Force museum is right there.

First Week of Twenty Ten

  • Monday

Kids back at school + Husband back to work= Ikea

My dear friend Megan and I couldn't wait to

get ourselves to the Ikea sale and took the first chance we had.

We both bought baskets, super cute cups and plastic tubs.
On top of that I bought an add on to Milo's train set,
and Megan got herself some yummy Swedish Fish.
We of course had lunch!

WARNING
Ikea is not for the faint of heart!
  • Tuesday

Mike's last Dr apt. for his broken finger.

So So So happy it healed up great all on its own and there

was no need for surgery.

Also this Tuesday was Pack meeting for Mike's scouts.
Um yeah lets just say what a fun night!!!
I so look forward to it and can hardly stand the fact that
it is only one night a month!!!
(please note the sarcasm).
  • Wednesday

Dallin's Geography Bee!!!!

Dallin did great and I think you can tell that it started

at 7:30 am by poor Dallin's glossed over look.

Lets just say I think we all had this look.

  • Thursday

Lunch with friends at McDonald's.

Dallin got the first three Fablehavens for Christmas

and Thursday night I finished book #2

  • Friday

Milo's 12 mth well-child check up.

First off I have the worlds best pediatrician.

I can't believe how lucky I got when I found him.

I must also amit that I choose him because I liked

his name Dr King Hom. He is wonderful, especially if

you have a child with Asthma and lets just say that when

Dallin was a little man we saw Dr Hom weekly .

Ok back to Mr Milo.

You would have thought he was on a sugar high. He ran around that

Dr office like he was on speed! Tried to steal everything Dr Hom

put in front of him. Milo doesn't believe in stranger danger.

He Weighed in at 20 lbs and is almost 30 inches.

That's the 14% for weight and 46% for height.

This was the look I got when I put him in his car seat!

and this is why. In my hurry to be able to comfort him

after his shots I sorta didn't realise that I had shoved both legs
into one leg hole. Sorry Lo.

P.S. I also found a great store today (not to worry there will be a post
shortly about it) and also those big baskets from Ikea were normally $35
on sale for $9.99.
JustKemistry, our Family, Life and Love
